01the food
What makes TinyWolf different from kibble?
Most kibble, budget or premium, is extruded: cooked at high heat and pressure in seconds. TinyWolf is slowly air-dried for up to 12 hours at a lower temperature, so it stays real food with a real texture and smell. No sprayed-on flavor coatings.
What is air-dried dog food?
Real ingredients, mixed and dried slowly with warm air until most of the moisture is gone. It keeps in the cupboard like kibble, but looks and smells like real food.
Is it raw?
No. TinyWolf is cooked through as it dries, and every batch is tested for salmonella before it leaves the kitchen. You get real food without the handling risks that come with raw.
How is it different from fresh or freeze-dried food?
Fresh food needs freezer space, thawing and planning, and is around 70% water. Freeze-dried is usually raw underneath. TinyWolf lives in the cupboard, scoops like kibble and is cooked.
Is TinyWolf complete and balanced?
Yes. TinyWolf Original Beef Recipe is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages, except for growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult). You can feed it as their only food.
02ingredients & nutrition
Does TinyWolf contain seed oils?
Yes, a small amount of sunflower oil. Dogs can't make linoleic acid (an omega-6 fat) themselves, so it has to come from food, and they need it for healthy skin. Salmon oil and flaxseed add omega-3s. The guaranteed analysis lists omega-6 at 1.0% (min), omega-3 at 0.1% (min) and EPA + DHA at 0.05% (min). Mixed tocopherols (natural vitamin E) keep the fats fresh. The human seed oil debate doesn't carry over directly to dogs, who need some omega-6 in their diet.
Is it grain-free?
Yes. Carbs and fiber come from garbanzo beans, sweet potato, butternut squash, pumpkin and a little tapioca flour instead of grains. Most dogs digest grains just fine; we chose these whole foods for fiber and slow-release energy.
What about grain-free food and heart disease (DCM)?
You may have read that the FDA looked into a possible link between some diets, often high in peas, lentils or other legumes, and a heart condition called DCM. The science is still open and no cause has been found. Our recipe is led by beef (62%), with garbanzo beans second, and we add taurine and L-carnitine. If your dog's breed is prone to heart disease, talk to your vet. We're happy to send them our full nutrient profile.
Why are there garbanzo beans?
They add fiber, some plant protein and slow-release energy. Beef is still the main ingredient at 62% of the recipe.
What is miscanthus grass?
A natural grass fiber that helps keep stools firm and regular. It's there for digestion, not to bulk up the bag.
Does it contain preservatives?
No artificial preservatives like BHA, BHT or ethoxyquin. The sunflower oil is preserved with mixed tocopherols (natural vitamin E), and the recipe also includes rosemary extract and citric acid.
Is there added salt?
No. There's no salt on the ingredient list. Dogs do need some sodium, and it comes naturally from the beef and other ingredients.
Why are there added vitamins and minerals?
Even whole-food recipes need a vitamin and mineral blend to be complete and balanced. We use chelated minerals (the 'proteinate' ones), which are bound to amino acids and easily absorbed.
Is it too high in protein?
It's 30% protein (minimum). For healthy dogs, including seniors, long-term research found protein intake didn't drive kidney damage (Finco et al., 1994). If your dog has kidney disease, check with your vet first.
How much fat is in it?
17% fat (minimum), which makes it energy-dense, so portions are smaller than you might expect. If your dog has a history of pancreatitis, check with your vet before switching.
Do the probiotics survive?
We add three probiotic cultures plus inulin, a prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria already in your dog's gut.
Is TinyWolf human-grade?
It's made with USDA beef in a certified food safety facility, but we don't call it human-grade, because that term has a specific legal meaning.
03feeding & switching
How much should I feed?
Build a plan and we'll work out the daily portion from your dog's weight, age and activity. As a rough guide, a 15 lb adult eats about ¾ cup a day. There are 446 kcal in every cup.
How do I switch from their current food?
Over 10 days. Mix 25% TinyWolf with 75% of their current food for three days, then 50/50 for three days, then 75/25 for three more, then 100% TinyWolf.
What if my dog gets an upset stomach?
Slow the switch down and stay on each step for a few extra days. Slightly softer stools in the first week can be normal. If it lasts more than a few days, pause and email us or check with your vet.
My dog is a really picky eater. Will they eat it?
Most picky dogs go for it because it smells like real food. If yours doesn't, you're covered by our 30-day Picky Wolf Guarantee.
Can I mix it with kibble or use it as a topper?
Yes. Plenty of owners use it as a topper or mix it in. Just reduce their other food so you don't overfeed.
Do I need to add water?
No, serve it as it is with fresh water nearby. For small, older or toothless dogs you can add a splash of warm water to soften it.
Is it OK for small dogs?
Yes. It's cut into bite-sized pieces. For very small dogs you can break them up or soften them with a little warm water.
04health & life stages
Can puppies eat TinyWolf?
Yes, with one exception. It meets AAFCO profiles for all life stages, except growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult). If you have a large-breed puppy, wait until they're fully grown.
Is it good for senior dogs?
Yes. It's complete and balanced for adults of any age, and you can soften it with warm water if chewing is harder. If your senior has a health condition, check with your vet first.
Is it good for dogs with allergies?
It depends on the allergy. Beef is one of the more common food allergens in dogs, so if your dog reacts to beef, this recipe isn't for them. It contains no chicken, wheat, corn, soy or dairy.
Can it help with weight management?
Every cup has 446 kcal, so portions are easy to control. Your plan portions are set for a healthy weight, and you can adjust them anytime.
Should I check with my vet?
If your dog has a health condition, is pregnant, or is on a prescription diet, yes. We're happy to share our full nutrient profile with your vet.
05safety & quality
Where is TinyWolf made?
In small batches at an SQF Level 2 certified facility in Georgia, USA.
How do you keep it safe?
Every batch is tested for salmonella before it's released. Every ingredient can be traced back to its lot, supplier and date, and we only buy from approved, audited suppliers.
How should I store it, and how long does it last?
Keep it sealed in its bag in a cool, dry place. No fridge needed. Unopened, it's good until the date on the bag. Once opened, use within 6 weeks for the best freshness.
